He is to translate into Chinese whatever documents the Governor or Colonial Secretary wish to be published, in china version, in the Garitte. The is also gradually to prepare, for publication in the Garette faithful Chinese version of every Ordinance, hitherto untranslated, or insufficiently translated, that affects the interests of the Chinese population of Honghong.

"The Head of the Department is

to organize and superintend a systematie regular supply of Chinese Interpreters for the Police Court and for the Supreme Court in its Criminal Jurisdiction. For this ~ purpose the Head of the Department is to be considered himself the sworn u Interpreter in Chief of both these Courts

and to have under his exclusive control

and management subject of course to the orders of His Excellency The Governor all the paid Interpreters at present provided by the Government for the said two Courts.
